What is Dermaplaning? How does it work? What are the benefits?

Dermaplaning is a form of physical exfoliation. A licensed practitioner uses a surgical 10 gauge scalpel to remove vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin with no down time. If men can get rid of their facial hair, why can’t we?!

The skin is held taut while the blade moves at a 45 degree angle throughout the treatment so there is no chance of being cut. In addition dermaplaning does not hurt at all, you may experience some slight redness depending on the skin’s sensitivity but it will quickly subside.

Aside from removing vellus & dead skin, dermaplaning actually enhances the effectiveness of other treatments such as a hydrafacial, chemical peel, or dermal infusion. It will also improve the efficacy of your products at home.

What is the aftercare like?

Retinol & acid products should be avoided the following 24 hours post treatment. Sunblock (which should be applied daily regardless) is suggested as your fresh layer of skin will be more sensitive to the sun.

How often should I dermaplane?

Every 4 – 6 weeks will give the best result. You receive instant gratification with smoother, brighter, more even skin. The average skin cycle is 30 days & becomes longer as we begin to age.
